The White House Garden Tours offer visitors to Washington, DC an opportunity to walk the garden grounds of The White House and see the beautiful gardens that help make it picture perfect. The White House Garden Tours, which have been a tradition since 1972 when Mrs. Nixon first opened the garden grounds to the public, are free but require a ticket.
As a new treat, the Kitchen Garden, also known as the vegetable garden that the First Lady planted in March 2009, will be “viewable from a distance along the tour route” according to a White House Press Release. Additionally visitors will have the opportunity to view the Jacqueline Kennedy Garden, Rose Garden, Children's Garden and South Lawn of the White House.
Tickets: The event is free and open to the public; but, a ticket is required for each visitor, including small children. Tickets will be distributed one per person and on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 8 a.m. on each tour day. Tickets will be distributed at the Ellipse Visitor Pavilion at 15th and E Streets, NW. In the event that it rains, the tour could be cancelled.
